CAREERS IN FASHION
Villioti Fashion Institute’s Degree prepares you for a variety of careers in fashion. Fashion, one of the world’s largest industries offers career opportunities in many different fields:
A retail buyer chooses the merchandise assortment available to customers at a retail or department store. When deciding which products to sell, they consider market demands, current style trends, price, quality, and customer shopping habits. Keeping the store’s stock competitive and relevant to their customers is the responsibility of the retail buyer. As well as analysing buying patterns, forecasting trends, and maintaining inventory levels, they also develop plans to keep market demand high.
The operations manager plays an important role in companies that offer products and services. They oversee the production and efficiency of the company and are responsible for a variety of aspects of operations and production. In general, operations managers oversee quality assurance programs, supervise, hire, and train other employees, monitor existing processes and analyse their effectiveness, and develop strategies to boost productivity and efficiency.
Develop and implement comprehensive brand strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives. Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify brand opportunities, competitor activities, and customer insights.
A retail manager’s role is to run a store successfully. Working on the shop floor, you are the face of the business, and come in constant contact with customers and staff. You are responsible for ensuring superior customer service as well as monitoring the financial performance of the store.
It is the responsibility of the merchandiser to ensure that the appropriate products are available in the right stores, at the appropriate time, in the correct quantities, and at the appropriate prices. Corporate merchandisers are responsible for ensuring that the design lifecycle remains on track. They may work in retail outlets or corporate apparel brands. Merchandisers work closely with designers to make a profitable product that customers will buy, but they might also ask the designer to change the style or re-evaluate possible price increases.
Most fashion designers work in the commercial fashion stream, where clothing is mass-produced at an affordable price point. In order to design marketable styles for their customers, these fashion designers look back on previous season’s top sellers, runway shows, and seasonal trends. They choose colours and fabrics and design the number of tops, bottoms, and dresses that are assigned by the inventory planning and merchandising teams.
Creative directors are responsible for deciding the overarching theme, colour palette and styling for a fashion season’s collection. They may work for a fashion magazine or apparel company. To determine what colours and styles their customers are likely to purchase, an apparel creative director conducts trend research and reviews high-level sales data. Senior designers meet with the designers at the beginning of each season to choose a colour palette, theme, inspiration sources, and key design elements. As the designs are being developed, the creative director ensures consistency and staying on track.
